My favorite zoos is struggling during the nationwide corona-virus lock-down, as they can no longer have people coming into their zoo. Did you know that 95% of the zoo’s income is from the admission fee paid by visitors ? Christchurch's Orana Wildlife Park had to start fundraising for money it needs to feed the 400 animals there, including lions, my favorite tigers, rhinos and New Zealands only gorillas how cool is that !
My mum said I eat like a gorilla as I found out today the gorillas eat over $800 a week worth of food and the zoo cost over $70,000 a week to run . The help from the government is not really helping as its only helping with 40% of the cost they would need.
The movie Ratatouille is Mahali favorite , they like to jump on the hammock in front of the movie screen. They must not know the rules, in my house nice day means outside no TV.
My mum and step dad has promised as soon as lock-down is over we are going to Orana park and getting McDonald for tea as a special treat.
I hope we can go soon , I can not wait for our big day out !!
Wow Bryce, this is a great story. I love Orana Park, I went there in the Christmas Holidays with my family. My favorite animals were the Gorillas and the Orangutans The Orangutans were there while Auckland Zoo was building them a new enclosure. Can you think of anyways we could help Orana Park raise some money?
